RankChecker (“RankChecker,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by FourthMedia, Inc., located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, provides a search-ranking and AI Overview visibility tracking service available at rankchecker.com and its application at rankchecker.com/app (the “Service”).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who is responsible for your information
For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the data controller is FourthMedia, Inc. For payments, our payment provider acts as merchant of record and as a separate controller of payment data, as described in Section 5.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect the information needed to set it up and sign you in:
- If you sign up or sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- If you sign up with email, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store passwords in plain text.
Tracking data you provide. To deliver the Service, we store the information you enter, including the website domain you choose to track, the keywords you add, and the locations and devices you select for each keyword.
Data we generate for you. As part of providing the Service, we generate and store ranking results, position history, AI Overview presence and citation data, and related metrics tied to your account and the keywords you track.
Billing information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy) collects and processes your payment details. We do not collect or store your full payment card number. We receive limited billing-related information such as your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and a transaction or customer identifier.
Communications. If you contact us for support or other reasons, we keep a record of that correspondence and the information you provide.
Technical and usage data. When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including your IP address, browser type and settings, device information, pages viewed, actions taken, timestamps, and similar log data. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).
We do not intentionally collect special categories of sensitive personal information.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate your sign-ins.
- Provide the core Service: tracking keyword rankings and AI Overview visibility for the domains and keywords you specify, and presenting your results.
- Process subscriptions, payments, renewals, and cancellations through our payment provider.
- Send you transactional messages (such as account, security, and billing notices) and the ranking-movement alerts you have enabled.
- Operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: To provide the Service you have signed up for, manage your account, and process payments.
- Legitimate interests: To secure, maintain, and improve the Service and prevent abuse, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: For optional communications and certain cookies, where required. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation:To comply with applicable law, including tax and accounting requirements.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.
Service providers (subprocessors). We share information with third parties that perform services on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
- Google: For “Sign in with Google” authentication, via Google Site Kit.
- Lemon Squeezy: Our payment provider and merchant of record, which processes payments and subscriptions. Lemon Squeezy’s handling of your payment data is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Search-data provider(s):To return your rankings and AI Overview data, the keywords, locations, and search parameters you configure are submitted to a third-party search-data provider to run the corresponding searches.
- Hosting and infrastructure provider(s): KnowHost, which stores and serves the Service.
- Email delivery provider: Google, used to send transactional messages and alerts.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a security incident.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
6. International data transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than the one in which you reside, including the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA, UK, or other regions with transfer restrictions, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, where required.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, secure the Service, and understand how it is used. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function (for example, authentication cookies). Others are optional.

8. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
9. How we protect your information
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Tequest a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information.
- Portability: Request a copy of certain information in a portable format.
- Restriction and objection: Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
- Non-discrimination: Exercise your rights without receiving discriminatory treatment.
EEA/UK (GDPR): You have the rights above and may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. You may also limit the use of sensitive personal information where applicable.
Canada (PIPEDA): You have the right to access and correct your personal information and to make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

11. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not operate. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their practices. Please review their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
